How Far Is Oklahoma From Dallas – If you’re planning a trip between Dallas and Oklahoma City and looking for the best places to stop along the way, this itinerary will show you some fun and beautiful places to visit. The drive isn’t incredibly spectacular and doesn’t really get interesting until you cross the state line into Oklahoma and approach the Arbuckle Mountains region.
The journey begins in Dallas, Texas. You have to take I-35 northbound and that is the only interstate travel. The total driving distance is 206 miles and takes just over 3 hours non-stop.

This trip can be done in one day, with enough time for each stop and attraction. If you want to turn it into a weekend or longer adventure, consider camping or finding a cabin near Turner Falls or the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The first stop on this trip from Dallas to Oklahoma City is the Winstar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car. Take exit 3 on Rogers Road.
Owned by the Chickasaw State, this casino is the largest casino in the United States by area. There are over 8,000 electronic games, poker rooms, kena and bingo. There is also an entertainment center where Adam Lambert, Weezer and ZZ Top have performed.
The reason we stopped was to see the very elaborate and detailed exterior of the building. The facade of the casino was designed to imitate the Parliament of London, the Colosseum in Rome and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It was designed by the same person who designed The Venetian and MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas. It reminded us a lot of all the buildings and casinos in Las Vegas.
If you don’t have a lot of time, you can stop and look at the outside of the building and continue with this tour, unless of course you enjoy gambling. If you are hungry, the casino has a large buffet restaurant called the Gran Via Buffet, as well as other cafes and restaurants in the area.

Turner Falls was one of the highlights of this trip and not to be missed! After driving through the flat, almost treeless area of Dallas, I was truly surprised to see this beautiful location.
Turner Falls is in Turner Falls Park and we were lucky enough to be here in the fall. Whoever said fall never comes in the Midwest is wrong!
The color of the leaves here was so beautiful against the pure emerald hue of the pool below the waterfall. Visiting at this time of year was a very peaceful experience as there are very few other people here.

Visiting in the summer will be a very different experience as it is a popular summer destination for locals.
You can go for a short walk around the pool or a longer hike in the mountains. There are also stone castles and really cool caves to explore. More information on visiting Turner Falls can be found here.
Another must-stop if you’re heading to Oklahoma City along the I-35 corridor. The store is right off the I-35 exit on US-77, so you won’t miss it.
Arbuckle Mountain Pies specializes in fried pies and holy molly… If you’ve never had a fried pie like we have, you’ll be wondering where you’ve been all your life.

The dough was very buttery and the end result soft and perfectly crispy. Words cannot describe how good it is, so try it for yourself and see what I mean.
There are a variety of flavors to choose from, from sweet fruit pies like cherry, peach, pineapple and coconut cream to savory options like bacon and egg or pepperoni pizza. We tried the Apricot Pie and the Tex-Mex Pie and they did not disappoint.
The pies are freshly made especially for you, so they only take a few minutes to prepare. The store has a large seating area where you can sit and wait. They also have frozen pies that are a bit cheaper if you want to take them out and microwave them later.
This particular store in Davis is the original store and home of the store, and they now operate several other stores in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

Oklahoma City is one of the largest cities in the United States, so despite its 1.25 million metro population, it still feels like a small town. We had very little traffic at peak times except in the outer suburbs, but downtown was a breeze to drive around and (paid) off-street parking was easy to find.
Most of the city’s main tourist attractions can be found in the popular downtown area known as Bricktown, making it a good starting point if you’re planning a trip to Oklahoma City.

Other areas of interest include the Midtown District with its many great restaurants and trendy clothing stores, the Wheeler District at Ferris Wheeler Park with its huge OKC sign and the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel (purchased on eBay), and the historic Stockyards City. The latter maintains a working warehouse, including live auctions held every Monday and Tuesday. There are also many shops here specializing in all things western.
Outdoor enthusiasts should head to Lake Hefner, which has more than nine miles of scenic walking trails that surround the lake. If you have a fishing license, you can fish here (a heated dock is also available) or rent a kayak and paddle.
